Low, gray, dreary clouds should clear with time very late today-tonight from northwest to southeast. Highs will be in the 30s.
Lows tonight will drop to 17-23.
High & mid clouds will increase & thicken tomorrow with highs 33-37.
Rain arrives early Wednesday morning. A period of freezing rain is possible in our northern & northeastern counties with temperatures 32-36 over the area.
Rain is likely Wednesday with highs 46-53 before much cold air rushes in quickly. Some gusts 30-40 mph are possible ahead of & behind the cold front.
The back edge may change to some light snow/sleet/freezing rain mix in a narrow band over our southeastern counties for a time as temperatures fall to 28-32 by evening.
Any snow/ice accumulation looks very light before it ends in our southeastern areas.
Thursday actually looks dry, but the main storm comes in & passes Friday to Saturday.
Data seems to be honing in on period of freezing (possibly extended in our northern areas with some ice accumulation) followed by rain. Rain should change to snow then end. Accumulations currently look minor.
It appears that the band of heavy snow will set up west of our area with significant accumulations +6" possible.
Looks like a windy system with gusts to 40 mph possible.
Various models show the heavy snow northwest & west of our area. However, this is the potential of some minor to very minor snow at the end of the system right now.
Tweaks & changes are possible with this system, so stay tuned.
So...........
Brief freezing rain/rain to rain ending as brief wintry mix then break, followed by freezing rain with icing & rain to rain to snow before ending (all Tuesday night-Saturday).
Total rainfall/liquid from this system looks to run 1.50-2.50". Given the fact that a lot of this will fall as rain, some ponding & localized flash flooding is possible.
