With blustery conditions, some rain will pivot up into the viewing area today.  Best potential is along & south of a Pine Village to Logansport line.

Winds will be brisk from the northeast, but it will be mild in the 40s.

Any rain will exit by later this evening.

It looks like clouds & sun Sunday with 44-47 after near 30 in the morning.  Sunday will not be bad with northwest wind 10-15 mph

Monday is looking more like a mostly sunny day after a cold front passes Sunday night.  Highs will run 36-41 with lows Monday night 24-27.

Clouds will increase & thicken Tuesday with highs near 40.  Wednesday will have lots of clouds, as well, but it will be warmer at 44-47.

Thursday-Friday will feature this strong storm system of rain, then snow.  After 40s Thursday, highs on Friday will only reach the 30s.

Winds will be strong, especially on late Thursday night-Friday, on the back side of the system (gusts to 40 mph).

A couple clippers &/or southern system & clipper merger may bring some snow near Christmas, given the cold air in place.

The warm, wet phase MJO is propping us up now with milder weather, though other past such MJO phases in El Nino Modokis saw 50s.

Traditional El Ninos paired with this MJO phase & then positive AO/NAO saw record warmth.

Those other factors bringing the temperature down will exert themselves much more as we near Christmas & go afterward.

After our bitter cold of lows down to 4 more than a week back, we now have the 40s, but below zero weather may be down the road by early January.

This is due to stratospheric warming episode that will get underway soon (warming near the ozone layer in the Arctic that helps to predict what side of the globe may see a major cold wave), a sign of major cool-down for central & eastern U.S.  The extreme cold in Asia right now will be propelled into our region as the warm phase MJO fades.

The players on the court as we near Christmas & beyond are cold weather players, while the MJO mild player sits the bench.
