WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Longtime West Side boys basketball coach Dave Wood will step away from the program after 27 consecutive years at the helm.
Since 1994, Wood has posted a (358-245) overall record. He announce Friday that the 2020-'21 season will be his last.
Wood has spent time as a coach at the high school level for Lafayette Jeff and Pike. At the collegiate level, he was an assistant for Toledo, and on Gene Keady's staff at Purdue. He had a major hand in recruiting current Purdue head basketball coach Matt Painter to play for the Boilers.
The Pike High School and University of Indianapolis alumnus is a member of the basketball hall of fame at both programs.
West Lafayette boys basketball has not played a game yet in its 2020 campaign. RDP will play McCutcheon on November 25th on the road.
