WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Couples are facing new challenges while spending more time together.
Cezanne Elias is a clinical assistant professor in human development at Purdue.
She said COVID-19 is causing forced togetherness which is something most couples are not used to.
Stressors have become amplified and people can't use their usual outlets like going to the gym or going out with friends to cope.
Elias said couples need to keep communication honest and open.
"Don't forget to have fun right," said Elias. "So if you are a couple who enjoys going on dates bring the date to you."
Elias said couples should plan activities they both like, acknowledge each other's emotions and find a healthy balance between alone time and togetherness.
