WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Senator Todd Young visited Purdue to pay his respects to famed broadcaster Larry Clisby.
Young presented a Congressional Record to Larry's son, Chad, honoring his father's 40 years of service.
The "Voice of the Boilermakers" passed away earlier this year after a long battle with cancer.
During his career, Clisby served as a full-time radio announcer and called many basketball games.
He even worked in WLFI's very own sports department in the late 70s.
In that Congressional Record, Senator Young said:
"From the Purdue sports staff to the team players, everyone saw Larry as a true, dedicated Boilermaker, and not just a typical play-by-play announcer. Throughout his career, Larry devoted his charisma, talents, and life to the Lafayette community, and I believe his work will serve as a benchmark for those who aspire to join the field of sports radio."
