LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Friday is your chance to learn more about the Lafayette Police Department. You can do this from the comfort of your own home or at work.
For about 18 months, Lafayette Police officers have met up to do a monthly podcast called Inside the Squad. Usually it's a recorded show, but they're switching up their format and going live Friday morning. They want people to tune in and ask questions during the show.
"We get a lot of the same questions over again," said Lieutenant Scott Galloway. "This is a way to reach a lot of people. So we hope that citizens will engage, they'll tune in and ask questions and then get something from the podcast."
Usually the officers plan a topic ahead of time with guests. They go over topics like summer crime and hiring to unmask the police department. This is a chance for the community to see what goes on behind the scenes.
A panel of officers will be answering questions from people in the community, including a traffic officer.
"We're going to have a street crimes officer available for more patrol type questions," said Galloway. "I'm an administrator, so myself and Ian O'Shields will handle those questions. Kind of make it a panel to answer any question that comes our way."
The podcast is being livestream on the City of Lafayette's Facebook page starting at 9 a.m. and a link to the podcast can be found here.
