LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Thomas Duncan Hall in Lafayette is celebrating its 90th anniversary. On Wednesday community members had the opportunity to gather and admire the historic building. The Hall marked the occasion by cutting the ribbon on a new garden on Wednesday.
A local Lafayette couple that attended the event has a special tie to the historic building. Sheri and Mike Weist held their wedding reception at Thomas Duncan Hall 46 years ago. The couple just celebrated their 46th anniversary on Monday.
The Weists were glad they were able to attend the event yesterday and see all of the changes.
"This house has always been a community center for the public to use for any event that would cause you to gather. So whether that's a wedding, memorial services, corporate meeting, a show, it's a community house for life events," said Executive Director of Duncan Hall, Julie Pope.
According to the Duncan Hall website, the mission of the Thomas Duncan Hall, Inc. is to preserve and maintain Duncan Hall so that it can provide a place for cultural, educational, and celebratory events that enrich our community. It will also sponsor educational programs that enhance civility, character, and citizenship in Greater Lafayette, Indiana.
