LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - CityBus announced on April 15th it will extend it's 23 connector route to serve Tippecanoe County Community Corrections on N. 9th Street. The service will provide non-violent offenders a mode of transportation to jobs and appointments.
The new route will begin on May 10th. Buses will stop at Community Corrections every 30 minutes until August 10th, where it will begin to run every 20 minutes.
Tippecanoe County Community Corrections Executive Director Jason Huber is excited to have the new route.
"It's been on our radar for a long time and we'e had really good dialog and discussions with CityBus over the last several months," Huber said.
"We're extremely excited that they're bringing that service out to serve our population."
Many at Community Corrections have to walk along N. 9th Street out of the city to reach the building. Huber says the new route will be a vital service.
"That transportation obstacle, if we can eliminate that for people to get to work, people to get to appointments, people to get to services that we're connecting them with, then it's a win of us and a win for our community," Huber said.
