LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — There are now 15 new places for people for people to park in downtown Lafayette. Drivers can now park in the Big Four Depot and Riehle Plaza lot.

A reconfiguration of the parking lot has added more available two-hour spaces, while still allowing dedicated sports for Amtrak and handicapped spots.

The lot will still have Zip Car slots, the Zagster bike rental hub and easy access to the CityBus Center.

Parking Operations Manager John Withers said he's glad people can get some use out of the previously underused lot.

"This particular part of downtown is busy during the day, so we thought it would help out a little bit, there is a lot of eating establishments downtown there's more residents downtown that we've probably seen in quite some time and with those come the need for parking," said Withers.

Overnight parking is still not allowed because there are so many events in that location.
