LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) -- The City of Lafayette has announced its plans for 4th of July celebrations.
The city plans to hold a parade starting at 11 a.m.
It will start at 16th and Alabama Streets, then it will go onto Main Street.
The parade will run by Wallace Avenue by the Frozen Custard and turn onto Park Avenue.
It will end in Columbian Park.
Children are more than welcome to participate.
They can take part in a box parade, where kids will make walking floats made out of boxes
that was once part of the Historic 9th Street July 4th festivities.
Prizes will be awarded to the top five entries that goes along with the parade's theme, which will be Honoring Our Local Heroes.
There will also be a Stars and Stripes Concert at 6 p.m. at Riehle Plaza.
The concert will feature the Lafayette Citizens Band, the Freedom Singers, Lafayette Jeff Jazz Combo and Alumni Band, and Clave Caribe Latin Music.
Local food trucks will offer refreshments along Second and Main Streets.
A firework show over the Wabash River will start at 10 p.m.
