LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A judge has denied the change of venue request for James Chadwell II. In a ruling on Wednesday, a Judge stated The court concludes that the defendant failed to show actual community bias in this case.
Chadwell is charged with multiple crimes including Attempted Murder, Kidnapping, Child Molesting, and Strangulation. Police say the girl was found in his basement, about half an hour after she was reported missing.
As we previously reported, James Chadwell II was trying to get the trial moved out of the county because of pre-trial publicity.
His attorneys argued that news coverage of the April 19th abduction tainted prospective jurors in the case.
He's scheduled to go on trial on December seventh
