BERNE, Ind. (WLFI) — Central Catholic's quest to make a second straight Class A state final appearance fell short Friday night.
The Knights scored a field goal on their first drive to open scoring, which was followed by a 42-0 scoring run for the Starfires.
After the running clock was enabled with nine minutes left in the game, CC was able to score 6 points to close out the night.
The defending state champion Knights lost to South Adams 42-9. This marks the first semi-state loss for CC in program history through eight games.
South Adams will play for a state championship next weekend for the first time in its program's history. They will enter that contest with an unblemished, 13-0 record.
Central Catholic graduates five seniors off of the 2020 roster, and finishes (5-4) on the season.
