Central Catholic downs West Lafayette at the buzzer

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Caroline Lutz heaved the ball cross court to Karsyn Cherry for a game-winning layup in Central Catholic's 55-53 win over West Lafayette at Berberian Gymnasium on Tuesday night.

The Knights led by two, 25-23 at halftime. The score was within seven points for the duration of the contest. 

39 total fouls in the game sent both teams to the free throw line frequently. CC shot close to 60% from the charity stripe as a team, giving the Knights an advantage after both teams entered the double bonus.

With 20 seconds left, Sarah Werth hit a three-pointer to tie the game at 53. Lutz connected with Cherry as time expired to pick up the win  with less than 5 seconds on the clock.

Cherry led all scorers with 23 points for the Knights. Annie Karlaftis posted a double-double for West Lafayette, with 13 points and 16 rebounds. 

The Knights impprove to (9-2) on the season, while RDP falls to (9-6). Central Catholic has won five of its last six meetings with West Lafayette.
