TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A CASA volunteer has been recognized for her hard work with children in need in Tippecanoe County.
Mary Hood has been a CASA volunteer since 1995. In that time, she has represented 29 children, making sure their best interests were considered in the courtroom. Hood has worked on fundraisers and served as a board member.
Monday night, she was presented with the Margaret J. Hand Child Advocacy Award. Hand was the first juvenile court judge in Tippecanoe County and is responsible for bringing the CASA program to Tippecanoe County.
Hood said it's an honor to be recognized for doing what she loves --helping children.
"I'm very appreciative. It's something I've enjoyed doing for the twenty-some years that I've been doing it," said Hood. "It's been a real privilege to have been at CASA and to continue on, I hope."
Hood said she hopes to continue to volunteer at CASA for at least one to two more years.
