BURLINGTON, Ind. (WLFI) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an Off-Road Vehicle crash involving injury. The call came in shortly after 5:15 p.m. on Sunday.

Carroll County emergency dispatch received a 911 call from a witness who said they saw a man roll his ORV in the intersection of Jackson Street and Stockton Street. The subject then fled into a nearby residence. Witnesses also said they saw the male subject bleeding from the head when he fled and entered the residence.

First responders arrived on scene at the residence and attempted to make contact with the subject, who was later identified as 34-year-old Michael Long of Burlington. Conservation Officers, Carroll County deputies and a Flora Police Department Officer had reason to believe Long had been operating the ORV while under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

After several failed attempts to make contact with Long to find out if he needed medical attention, officers were able to communicate with him, and Long refused to cooperate. When officers attempted to detain him, Long began to forcibly resist and a taser was used.

Long was then arrested and transported to the Carroll County Jail.

He is initially facing misdemeanor charges of hindering the investigation of a Conservation Officer and resisting law enforcement. Additional charges for operating an ORV under the influence of alcohol are pending a toxicology report.

Carroll County Sheriff Department, Flora Police Department, Burlington Fire Department, Carroll County EMS, and Carroll County 911 Dispatch all helped in this incident.
