LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — It was a memorable Father's Day for Mark Barnhizer.
Barnhizer's son, Brooks, made his college decision.
The Lafayette Jeff standout who's father is the head coach of the Bronchos committed to Northwestern on Sunday.
Barnhizer picked the Wildcats over Butler, Xavier, Western Kentucky and Yale.
As a junior, Barnhizer averaged 20.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists a game. The 6-foot-6 guard also posted 2.3 assists and 1.7 blocks.
"The biggest thing you have to do is have a connection with the head coach because you know at the end of the day that's the person that puts you in the games, the person who looks out for you," said Barnhizer.
"I just really I saw a lot of my dad in Coach Collins."
"You have to know the staff and you gotta kind of go where it's a family environment and I feel that at Northwestern."
