WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Families from around the area laced up their shoes and ran Friday for a cause. Burnett Creek Elementary School hosted its Bobcat Bolt to raise money for students.

Funds raised at the event are used to expand STEM opportunities for the students. Children who attended the event ran a 1K before adults and older participants took on the 5K.

Snow Cones, obstacle courses and other games were also included in Friday's event. Principal Matt Ridenour said the event is a great way to keep the school up to date.

"The technology market is evolving so fast that you know the more funds that we have, the more freedom we have to purchase some of those things and stay on top of the new initiatives," said Ridenour.

Burnett Creek Elementary School recently introduced interactive Wonder Labs in its school as a part of STEM expansion.
