OXFORD, Ind. (WLFI) — After six years with the Benton Central Baseball program, head coach Jon Vernon has announced his resignation. Since 2016, Vernon has posted a 67-38 record with the Bison.
The Bison finished second in the Hoosier Conference in 2019, with an overall record of 21-6.
Vernon announced his decision to leave on Twitter on Sunday night:
It has been a Great 6 Years with Bison Baseball Program but I have resigned as Head Varsity Baseball Coach. My Coaching Staff of Coach Musser, Coach Goffinet, Coach Rider, Coach Musser, and Coach Claire helped take a Program placing

Vernon will continue as the head coach of the Bison volleyball program, which finished with a sectional championship in 2020.
