OXFORD, Ind. (WLFI) — The Benton Central football team has had one winning season the last 15 years, not to mention, the Bison are coming off a 0-10 campaign in 2018.
Success has not come easy on the gridiron for Benton Central over the past two decades. This year, senior quarterback Chase Creek is just trying to help Mike Hammons' program remain positive and simply win a few games.
Coach Hammons has been quick to turn the page to 2019, a slate that includes a week one match-up with Josh Strasser's Delphi Oracles, who finished last year's regular season without a loss.
"We've gotta show up ready to play, we gotta be excited, you know it's a new season, it's a new start," said Hammons. "We're going over to Delphi, we're going to go over there and we're going to put our best foot forward, and give them the best game we can."
"Our downfall has really been just our athleticism, but we really put the time in in the weight room this year," said Creek. "I feel like we've got a much more talented team than we did last year."
