Nearing Category 5 strength (winds 150 mph right now....winds greater than 156 mph at Category 5), Hurricane Laura could send a storm surge that peaks at 20' on the coast. The surge could reach up to 30 miles inland into Louisiana.
Winds may still gust to 100 mph as far north as northern Louisiana.
Here, a clouds will increase tonight & a few scattered storms are possible at any point tomorrow with highs at 87-93 & heat indices peaking at 93-101.
Numerous scattered storms are likely Friday with clusters, a couple isolated supercells & a few short lines. A main line should pass Friday night.
