ATTICA, Ind. (WLFI) - A home north of downtown Attica is destroyed after it caught fire Tuesday. Crews say the block will be closed for the next several hours.

Around 1:15 a.m., Chief Michael Little said they got a call for smoke in the area. Officers drove by and saw a fully-engulfed fire at a home on Union and Columbia Streets.

While crews were fighting the fire, the single-story home collapsed, according to Little. He said the home has been vacant for years.

Little expects the fire marshal to inspect what is left of the home Tuesday afternoon. Crews from Attica, Williamsport, West Point and Mellott all responded.
