Highs yesterday ran 73-81, today they reached 82-88 with record warmth over the area. We broke the record (preliminary) of 86 set in 1986 with 88 today at Greater Lafayette.

Gusts yesterday were as high as 47 mph & today they were as high as 48 mph. Gusts in the Greater Lafayette area over the past two days have been around 40 mph.
A passing isolated shower/storm is possible in the morning.
Scattered showers & storms are likely in the afternoon. Two main areas of focus for storms will be in 1) a line near/north of 18 & 2) line/round of showers/storms over the southern half of the area.
An isolated severe storm or two is possible with mainly a wind & hail threat.
After a lull in the evening, showers & a few storms initially will transition to just showers Wednesday night.
Showers are likely through the night & into Thursday. They should taper late afternoon Thursday with a nice, sharp clearing trend.
A secondary surface cold front will pass Thursday night with clouds & a few isolated showers.
A couple of bands of 1-3" will occur in the viewing area: one in the southern half & another along/north of 18 with less in-between the two.
So, some locally-heavy rainfall is possible.
Heaviest rainfall will occur south of the viewing area with a band of +5" possible from Oklahoma to southeastern Missouri, southern Illinois, Indiana to Kentucky.
Friday will be bright, but cooler, followed by a nice weekend!
It will get more active later Tuesday through Wednesday of next week with multiple rounds of showers & storms.
Parameters suggest SLIGHT RISK & higher risk south of our area (up to MODERATE).
Stint of cooler (highs 62-68, lows 37-42) & drier weather should follow before we warm again & turn stormy.
