WASHINGTON (WLFI) - The American Red Cross said there's a specific and important way you can help in this coronavirus crisis.
It announced Wednesday the state is facing a severe blood shortage amid an unprecedented number of blood drive cancellations.
It is asking any healthy individuals to consider scheduling a time to give blood.
Nearly 2,700 blood drives have been canceled nationwide, representing about 86,000 pints of blood.
Drives typically bring in about 8 percent of the organization's blood supply.
You can set up a donation time and place without a drive, through the hotline 1-800-RED-CROSS.
