TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Two major vehicle crashes occurred on the 14 and 15 of October. Both vehicles were headed southbound on I-65, and both vehicles were near the State Road 43 exit. One was a semi-tractor trailer that rolled over onto the right side of the road. The other was a Tesla which caught fire.
Although I-65 has recently expanded to three lanes reportedly to reduce congestion and make the interstate safer, factors like construction work zones and changing weather conditions can make driving much more dangerous if precautions aren't taken.
"People just need to slow down," Indiana State Police Sergeant Jeremy Piers said. "They need to be patient, give following distance. Make sure your cars are prepped and ready for winter, if that involves taking them to a body shop, make sure your tires are ready to go. But slow down to the speeds that you need to maneuver through these areas."
