LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A brand new preschool is coming to the Lafayette School Corporation in the fall of 2018. Participation from parents across Greater Lafayette is needed to make the school successful.

The new program is called Little Bronchos Preschool and it will kick off at Linnwood Elementary School. Parent Penny Griffith is excited to enroll her son and prepare him for life as a kindergartner.

"Since I work here I really got to hear about it first hand and jumped on it as soon as I could," Griffith said.

Little Broncho Preschool Coordinator Todd Deckard said the program has been in the works for about 2 years.

"It'll be kind of a structured introduction for our students into what school life is like," Deckard said.

The preschool will be open during the normal school year at Linnwood.

Deckard said, "We're starting here and we're gonna be housed in here, but this is open to children all over Tippecanoe County."

He said the biggest benefit to Little Bronchos is getting kids comfortable in a school setting and understanding, "That learning is a good thing and that coming into school, school is a place for me, school is a place where I belong. There's a label on my cubby where I put my things."

There will be morning and afternoon half-day classes offered Monday through Friday.

"I think that's huge especially before kindergarten," said Griffith. "This is a five day program which is really good I think."

During preschool the students will do educational activities and classrooms will be equipped with technology the children will see in kindergarten.

"It's super exciting to be a part of something like this," said Deckard.

Tuition for Little Bronchos is $50 dollars a week. There's room for 25 kids in the morning classes and 25 for the afternoon classes.
