LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Kelly family now all share a birthday on Christmas Eve.
A Lafayette couple welcomed home their miracle Monday.
"It's kind of a noticeable birthday," said Amber Kelly.
A birthday on Christmas Eve is one of the least probable days to be born. Amber Kelly gave birth to her first-born daughter Violet Noel on Dec. 24th at IU Health Arnett Hospital.
Amber shares her birthday with her husband Sean. It's something the couple did not figure out until months into dating.
"We just got to talking about the holidays and I don't remember which one of us offered up the fact that we were born on Dec. 24th, but then the other one said '"me too'" and we were like no way and I remember asking her for her license cause I didn't believe her," said Sean Kelly.
He also couldn't believe his daughter was also born on the same day.
"It still is disbelief," said Amber. "We are still kind of in shock because we joked abut it. I mean I joked about it a ton."
"I still am in disbelief," said Sean. "I didn't believe she was going to come early, especially that early on the 24th. That was surprising to me."
Even the nurses were surprised.
"When the baby was born obviously she was born on Christmas Eve," said nurse Alicia Wozniak. "So that like never happens. I mean very rarely do we see where everybody has the same birthday, so that in itself I think it's really cool and something to be celebrated."
The celebration was supposed to be Jan. 8th, but Amber went into labor on Dec. 23rd and gave Violet the gift of life.
"The crazy thing about babies is they always have their own times when they come anyways," said Wozniak "It's like you can have a due date, but it's like the baby's going to pick its own birthday."
A birthday gift or Christmas gift or whatever you call it, the gift of life is a miracle.
