WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Five hundred thousand dollars is up for grabs for small businesses in West Lafayette.
West Lafayette was given the half a million dollars for businesses impacted by COVID-19.
The community development block grant awards up to $10,000 for businesses with five or less people and up to $15,000 for more than six employees.
Mayor John Dennis said there have already been more than 70 applicants.
He added small businesses need to fill out the form if they need any help.
"Small businesses are the ones that really get hit hard," said Mayor Dennis. "They are the ones that live hand-to-hand every day and you throw this into the mix, it hurts; it really can do some harm."

The first deadline is May 1st with half the money being awarded after that.
The second deadline is June 1st with the rest of the money being given out after that date.
