BATESVILLE, Ind. — A southeastern Indiana prosecutor is filing a murder charge against a drug dealer in connection with an overdose death.

Alvin Trimnell is accused of selling the fatal dose of heroin.

He faces a felony murder charge with a sentence of 45 to 65 years in prison.

Murder charges for drug dealers have become a drug-fighting tactic in some states, but prosecutor Ric Hertel believes this is the first time such a case has been filed in Indiana.

Prosecutors also charged the victim's husband, Nathaniel Walmsley, who investigators say gave the fatal dose.
