LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — At the beginning of each season every team has an ultimate goal: make it to state.
For the Central Catholic Knights, one team is standing in their way of making that dream a reality: Pioneer.
"We're feeling good," said CC head coach Brad McCarter. "It's always nice to get to this point. We are very lucky that we have a dedicated group that wants to work. It makes it enjoyable. I'm just happy for the kids."
It's been two years since Central Catholic competed in the state finals. In 2015, the undefeated Knights faced off against Christian Academy. CC's bid for a perfect season came up short as McCarter's squad lost in a decisive five sets.
Fast forward to today and the Knights are hungrier than ever.
"Seeing that — the only state championship volleyball picture in the gym should motivate us alone because we want to add to that," said senior setter Sami Royer. "We know what we have to do to be able to get there again."
Come Saturday, it's go hard or go home because as an athlete you never want to say you didn't give it your all.
