Check fraud attempt at Chase bank leads to 4 arrests

An attempted check scam at a local bank has landed four people in jail.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — An attempted check scam at a local bank has landed four people in jail.

It all started on Oct. 23 when Lafayette police say they responded to a report from Chase Bank on Main Street that four people in the drive-thru were trying to pass fraudulent checks.

Officers arrived while the suspects were still at the drive-thru and determined that three of the four people were involved in the fraud activity.

Jonathan Moorehead (33)

  • Carrying a handgun without a license

Jerwhon Price (28)

David Milton (27)

  • Forgery
  • Wanted on unrelated Lafayette Police warrant

The fourth person in the vehicle was identified as Shaquita Curtis and was not directly involved with the fraud attempt.

Police arrested her on a Lake County warrant and for false informing due to her lying about her identity during the investigation.

The four were taken to Tippecanoe County Jail.
