Drug task force investigation results in 2 Lafayette arrests

An investigation by the Tippecanoe Drug Task Force has led to the arrest of two people.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — An investigation by the Tippecanoe Drug Task Force has led to the arrest of two people.

The task force took 36-year-old Matthew Speziale and 25-year-old Christine Surface to the Tippecanoe County Jail on Sunday.

Police say Speziale had sold heroin and methamphetamine to both an informant and an undercover detective several times in 2017.

He was arrested at a Lafayette business in the 4200 block of Commerce Dr. along with Surface, who accompanied him to jail.

At the time of the arrest, police discovered that Surface was in possession of illegal narcotics. Preliminary charges against her include possession of a syringe, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of a legend drug.

Possible charges against Speziale include two counts of dealing in a narcotic drug, two counts of possession of narcotic drug, two counts of dealing methamphetamine, and two counts of possession of methamphetamine.

Police say this is the third arrest of narcotics dealers in less than a week.
