TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The Burnett Creek Elementary School community wants to bring families together Friday for the second annual Bobcat Bolt Family Fair and 5K. The event is open to families across Greater Lafayette and not just those in the Tippecanoe School Corporation.

Parent organizer Noel Charshe said, "All the kids get to enjoy it together. Of course this is still a fairly small community so we all get to help each other out and raise funds for each others schools. So, I think it's well appreciated."

Last year it rained during the run and activities were brought inside the school. This year, the weather should be nice enough to keep events planned on the school's large front field. The night will kick off with a one mile fun run followed by at 5K run and walk.

The fair is free, but you have to purchase tickets for food and to play games. There will be a silent auction, bounce house, and obstacle course. Food will be provided from a variety of places including Whiskey Bob's Saloon, Arni's Pizza, Dog n Suds, and Kona Ice.

The money raised supports the school's STEM program.

"We want to bring some more physical fitness into the classroom during the instructional day, get some desk cycles, some recumbent bikes, make that part of the day," said Burnett Creek Principal Matt Ridenour. "Also, things are always evolving. Whatever we can do to help support our teacher needs is always welcome."

The Bobcat Bolt 5K and family fun fair is from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. The one mile fun run and walk cost $10 to participate and starts at 6:00 p.m. The 5K run and walk cost $20 to participate and is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. You can register here or the day of the event

Parking will be available in the front and back of the school. After 6:00 p.m. you're asked to park across the street at Harrison High School and Walk over.
