LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)— 17-year-old Rylee Schneider orchestrated her third Walk For Freedom event on Saturday.
The event was held at Riehle Plaza in Lafayette.
Walk For Freedom is an international walk in 450 countries to raise awareness of the injustice of human trafficking.
Music, prayer, and an inspirational message accompanied the walk that started just before 9 am.
Schneider said this event is important because it raises awareness for something everyone should be passionate about.
"It doesn't happen just in other countries," said Schneider. "This happens in Indiana, this happens in Lafayette. This affects us directly. This isn't just something that's overseas. This happens here and I think that one of the reasons why this is so important. Because we need to be doing stuff now. This isn't something to just brush off to the side."
Schneider hopes to continue holding these walks. To learn more about human traffiking and how you can get involved with support, click here.
