Tippecanoe Co. Highway Dept. to conduct traffic study near Harrison High School

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — The county highway department is looking to see what needs to be done to make a booming area safer.

A traffic study will look at the following areas:

  • County Road 50 West from 500 North to 650 North
  • County Road 75 East from 500 North to 600 North
  • County Road150 West from 500 North to 600 North
  • County Road 500 North from Orchid Drive to just west of North River Road
  • County Road 600 North from 150 West to 75 East

Traffic operations and safety issues are the focus, and it will give the county an idea of what roadway and improvements are needed.

Highway Department Executive Director Stewart Kline said the area has developed a lot in the last several years.

"We're trying to get a step ahead of the development," he said. "There are a lot of planned subdivisions and growth in the area."

The study will also determine if the area needs to become more walkable due to the three Tippecanoe School Corporation buildings within that area, which are Harrison High School, Burnett Creek Elementary, and Battle Ground Middle School.
