LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A special dog over at Natalie's Second Chance Dog Shelter in Lafayette is looking for his forever family.
His name is Felix he's a boxer mix living with a medical condition.
However, he is grabbing attention with his adorable personality.
"Felix loves to be loved," Saundra Rice, the Executive Director at Natalie's, told News 18. "He loves to play fetch. He has a tennis ball at the shelter that he's had since he was a puppy. So, he's had a lifelong love of tennis balls."
At first glance, you wouldn't know he's living with a condition.
He has luxating patellas in his hind legs.
The condition affects Felix's kneecaps.
They don't line up as they should.
"We have to be careful with how much he runs because he does like to play fetch. We just have to be careful that we don't let him overdo it," Rice told News 18.
Rice says he's a happy and healthy dog looking for a new home.
"He's been through a lot in his life. So. If there was a home where he could be the dog. He could be like the king of the house!"
Felix will soon have surgery to help him with his luxating patella condition.
"The surgeon will go in and do some cuts on the bone. To make it move the way it should. After some recovery, he'll be a normal dog."
While Felix waits, he is up for adoption and ready to spread some more love.
If you're interested in adopting her or any other dogs at the shelter, you can send Natalie's an email and fill out a pre-adoption form to see if you're the right fit.
If you're unable to adopt, you can still help out.
The shelter is in need of pill pockets and plastic bags.
