video and sound, edit on non-linear equipment, operate a microwave live

truck, write for broadcast and post video to web. Applicants must

demonstrate ability to handle DV cameras with hard drive, non-linear

editing software, laptop computer, mics, cables, microwave truck, fiber

link and any other equipment needed to perform the daily duties of news

gathering for multiple news platforms. You must be prepared to perform

multiple tasks and be able to work under deadline pressure. Good driving

record and valid driver’s license are mandatory. College degree in

broadcast news and internship at a commercial TV station required. We

are a CBS affiliate in a Big 10 University town with a variety of stories to shoot.

Candidate must be able to develop relationships, have strong communications and organizational skills, and be able to create and deliver effective client presentations. AEs at WLFI are responsible for selling television and all digital platforms (WLFI desktop, app, tablet, and mobile). We will provide training in all areas to help grow your abilities and ensure success. A valid driver’s license, state-mandated automobile insurance, and an acceptable driving record are also required.

WLFI-TV seeks a television newscast producer. Our next newsroom team member will deliv­er news important to viewers with local, accurate, and visual content. WLFI’s newsroom is a team atmosphere and we’re looking for someone who can come in to play a pivotal role in our successful newsroom. The primary purpose is to create, lead and organize content for multiple platforms using strong editorial, journalistic, organizational and communication skills.

 

Key activities:

 

Developing newscasts and local programs; responsible for writing, and showcasing

Working closely with news managers and assignment editors to determine content

Executing time-sensitive decisions

Responsible for oversight of live broadcast

Desktop editing

Posting content to WLFI’s Web site

 

Requirements:

 

Knowledge of ENPS, Edius preferred

Excellent conversational and creative writing skills

Must have strong communication and organization skills

Adaptable, self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

 

Experience:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field

Experience as a producer preferred

Job responsibilities:

  • Directs the gathering and production of news content for broadcast and digital platforms, leveraging the use of digital tools to enhance newsgathering and dissemination.
  • Supervises personnel, which includes work allocation, training, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
  • Budget administration.
  • Strategic planning in collaboration with other department Heads on station initiatives.

Experience Requirements:

  • Broadcast television newsroom management experience.
  • Proven track record of mentoring/coaching a news staff.
  • Ability to demonstrate how the candidate has improved news product at another broadcast television station.

Qualification requirements:

  • Candidate must have a proven record of leadership and success in managing a local news operation
  • Individual must have a passion for news and communication skills to manage a small market staff and multiple hours of daily newscasts.
  • Strong communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
