WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - A career night by Purdue freshman point guard Ronnie Johnson wasn't enough to secure a Purdue victory as Santa Clara defeated the Boilermakers 86-83 in a College Basketball Invitational quarterfinal contest Monday night at Mackey Arena.
The loss ends the Boilermakers' season as Purdue finishes with a record of 16-18.
Kevin Foster scored a game-high 34 points for Santa Clara as the Broncos overcame a 37-33 halftime deficit to advance into the CBI semifinals.
Ronnie Johnson led the Boilermakers with a career-high 27 points. Johnson's older brother, Terone Johnson, added 22 points. Ronnie Johnson also had six assists and three steals.
