SAN DIEGO, CA (WLFI) - The San Diego Padres announced on Monday that they are cutting ties with former McCutcheon Maverick Clayton Richard.
Last year, Richard earned pitcher of the year honors with the Padres and now he is entering the free agent market.
The 30-year-old Richard spent much of the 2013 season on the disabled list. He first dealt with an intestinal virus and then with a shoulder strain that ultimately required season-ending AC joint surgery.
Richard went 2-5 this season and finished with a 7.01 ERA in 52 and two thirds innings pitched. He had 24 strikeouts in 11 starts.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
Donations are being accepted to help around 300 seniors receive a holiday gift.
