WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue senior Paula Reto earned her third Big Ten Golfer of the Week award of the season on Wednesday, after recording a four-under par 212 to win the web.com Intercollegiate in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla., on April 9.
The No. 11/14 Purdue women's golf team won the web.com Invitational by eight strokes over No. 29 Iowa State and all five Purdue golfers finished in the top 50, including three in the top five. The Boilermakers' team score of 857 (290-284-283, -7) was the third lowest 54-hole tournament score in school history.
Reto and Texas Tech's Gabriella Dominguez finished tied at 212 in regulation, and Reto captured the individual title by besting Dominguez in a playoff. Reto was under par in all three rounds, having shot a two-under 70 in the final round after carding a pair of one-under par 71s on Monday.
Wednesday's honor is the seventh weekly conference award of Reto's career and the fourth for the Boilermakers this season. Most recently, Reto was recognized by the conference office on Feb. 14.
The Cape Town, South Africa, native has two tournament victories this season for a total of four collegiate individual championships in her career. Reto is ranked No. 25 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and is leading Purdue with a season stroke average of 73.05.
