WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - I had a lot of trouble trying to narrow the plays down this week to just five! Normally, I show three plays in Martin's Moments but I had to make a little more room this time.
Carroll's Paige Spesard stole the number five spot. She ripped a homerun in the bottom of the sixth inning in the Cougars regional title game against Lewis-Cass. The homerun gave Carroll a 1-0 lead. The Cougars claimed their regional title with a 2-1 win.
Lafayette Jeff's Keaton Hamilton made an incredible catch in a sectional game against Logansport. This play could be number one most weeks. However, there were so many great plays this week that this play fell to number four!
Central Catholic's Andrew Hubertz hit his first grand slam of his career against Tri-Central in sectionals. Hubertz came in at number three.
Lafayette Jeff won a thrilling regional game against Hamilton Southeastern on Saturday. Jeff's Austin Albrecht ripped the walk-off hit to center field in the bottom of the eighth inning to give Jeff the 2-1 win!
However, the number one play this week went to the Lafayette Jeff's boys track and field team. This was the easy choice for me. Matt Johnson, Lucas Wallace, Darian Green, and Carl McQuay stole the show at the state finals on Friday. Johnson won the state title in the 100 meter dash. The four of them won the state title in the 4x100 meter relay. McQuay won the state title in the 200 meter dash while Wallace finished in second place. It was incredibly impressive what this group was able to achieve! They had to be number one!
