LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - Logansport's girls tennis team claimed its third straight sectional title on Saturday with a 3-2 win over Lewis-Cass.
Logansport's one-singles player, Whitney Jennings won her match 6-0, 6-0. Whitney's sister, Rachel Jennings claimed a point for the Lady Berries at two-singles with a 6-1, 6-0 victory. At three-singles, Logansport's Brooke Bullard won in straight sets 6-0, 6-0.
"It's really exciting to 3-peat as sectional champs," said Whitney Jennings. "Lewis-Cass has a great tradition in girls tennis and we are really happy to have won it three years in a row now.
"I really wanted this win," said Rachel Jennings. "I knew I had a lot of pressure on me coming in to today because we had a close match earlier in the season and my match was the deciding factor. I just knew I wanted to come in and win in my last season playing in high school sports."
"It's always exciting to beat our county rival, Lewis-Cass in the sectional," said Brooke Bullard. "This is my junior year and I have won for three years and I have done it with two of my best friends, the Jennings sisters."
Logansport advances on to regional competition. The Lady Berries will face Harrison on Tuesday at Kokomo High School.
