WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Former Harrison Raider and Purdue Boilermaker Josh Lindblom is expected to start Monday's game against the Oakland A's in place of injured Texas Rangers starter Alexi Ogando.
Lindblom, who came to Texas in the Michael Young trade this offseason, was competing for a spot in the Rangers bullpen this spring, but has been used as a starter in AAA this season.
Triple-A reliever Cory Burns was called up Thursday to take Ogando's spot on the roster, but Lindblom will be the pitcher who replaces Ogando in the Rangers' rotation.
Lindblom has never started a major league game, but he has had plenty of success in that role this season, posting a 2.08 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 4-0 record in seven starts with Triple-A Round Rock.
At this point there is no indication how long Ogando is expected to be on the disabled list.
