INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - The Indianapolis Colts can clinch a playoff berth with a road victory Sunday against AFC South leader Houston.
Just one season after winning two games, the Colts now control their own playoff destiny. Colts rookie Andrew Luck, who grew up in Houston, says it's extra special to be playing meaningful games in December.
"I think it's fun to be in the thick of things," Luck said. "Playing for meaningful...meaningful something. So we're trying to enjoy it."
The Colts go into the game with a season record of 9-4. The Texans have the best record in the AFC with a season mark of 11-2.
The general managers of both teams, Ryan Grigson of the Colts and the Texans' Rick Smith, are Purdue alums. Both Grigson and Smith were consulted by Purdue athletic director Morgan Burke in the Boilermakers AD's recent head football coach search, which resulted in the hiring of Darrell Hazell.
The AFC South matchup between the Colts and Texans kicks off at one p.m. Sunday at Reliant Stadium in Houston and can been seen on WLFI.
