LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - From the moment Elizabeth Burton stepped in between the lines on Wednesday night, the junior forward was on a mission to keep her season alive. Needless to say, she set the tone early.
Burton scored twice during the game's first 11 minutes, she then added a third with just over 35 minutes remaining in the second half and added a remarkable assist on Bailey Smith's goal with 22:07 to play in the Mavericks 4-1 victory over Yorktown.
"I mean we played as hard as we could and I think the first five minutes really matter and being able to score early really set the tone for the game," said Elizabeth Burton

"I told the girls that we are now one of sixteen teams left in the state. We are going to stay and watch a little of this game and see what our opponent has in store for us. We have a pretty good idea of what's going to happen. We will go from there and hopefully we can get the job done on Saturday," said McCutcheon Head Coach Jason Donkersloot.
