WABASH, Ind. (WLFI) - Legendary Purdue Basketball coach Gene Keady was back in Indiana for his annual golf outing in Peru. His day was capped off by a motivational speech at the Honeywell Center in Wabash, Indiana.
Coach Keady also received quite a surprise from former players of his 1962 Beloit high school team. Coach Keady also received the 2013 Kiwanian of the Year award which recognizes outstanding leadership and service.
Coach Keady was thrilled to see members of his 1962 team stayed in town long enough to surprise him on stage.
"That was a nice surprise. I didn't know they were staying. They played golf today and I thought they were heading back to fly out of Indianapolis, but they tricked me. It was a very very spirited evening and a lot of fun and surprise and I really enjoyed it," said Gene Keady.
Keady currently serves as an adviser at St. John's University. Widely recognized throughout the nation, Keady is an ambassador for St. John's program at University functions, and events in and around New York City.
Inventions were built by Purdue mechanical engineering students for a final class project.
