LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) - More than 355 workers face lay-offs over the next few months atthe Logansport State Hospital.
A news release issued by the Indiana Family and Social ServicesAdministration said the state plans to improve patient access tocommunity-based care by making changes at four of its sixpsychiatric hospitals.
The statement said the majority of civil beds will be closed,and Logansport State Hospital will focus on forensic and high-riskpatient populations, a transition which will result in a drop inpatients from the facility's current number of 388 to 134.
The changes and layoffs are expected to be completed by March ofnext year.
