PERU, Ind. (WISH) - Storms that swept through Central Indiana on Wednesday left damage behind in Peru, police dispatchers confirm.
Dispatchers said most of the damage was centered on the west side of the city, which is in Miami County.
Miami County Emergency Management officials said storm damage was discovered at Kroger and McDonald's on the west side. Logansport Road was closed at County Road 250 West.
An eyewitness in the area reported that the B&K root beer stand was damaged, along with cars at the Arby's and Aldi.
A shooting on Lafayette's south side is under investigation.
It's been nearly a month since a tornado damaged Southwestern Middle School and Mintonye Elementary School, giving faculty the task of helping students transition to their new surroundings.
