WASHINGTON (AP) — A beaming President Barack Obama saluted his hometown Chicago Blackhawks at the White House on Monday.
Obama welcomed the National Hockey League champions to the presidential mansion in honor of their 2013 Stanley Cup championship.
The Blackhawks have been the only Chicago team to win championships during Obama's presidency. They also won in 2011.
Obama praised the team not only for their skills on the ice but for their contributions to the community. Blackhawk players and staff visited troops and their families at Walter Reed Army Medical Center earlier in the day.
