INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (WLFI) - The purpose of the alliance is to develop research, expandmedical education, and allocate matching funds for researchinitiatives.
Indiana University President Michael McRobbie and PurduePresident France Cordova said the partnership is a benefit toIndiana.
"It's terriffic news. As Representative Klinker said, there's along budget process to go. But we think that this, the ways andmeans committee, has sent a very strong signal of support for thisalliance," said Cordova.
"It's going to generate new innovations. New discoveries, newinventions. They will in turn lead to new companies, new services,which will lead to jobs. Just at a time when jobs are disappearing.This is an investment that has the promise of generating new jobs,"said McRobbie.
Cordova and McRobbie were at the state house today showcasingexhibits between Purdue and I-U with Indiana businesses.
Cordova said the schools' rivalry has increased the respect oflegislators for this alliance.
Inventions were built by Purdue mechanical engineering students for a final class project.
