MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) - Woodlawn Elementary in Monticello will close at the end of the school year, and students are getting a warm welcome from their new schools. The students will be split between three of the remaining Twin Lakes School Corporation schools. Those schools invited their future students for a meet and greet and a picnic lunch. Oaklawn Elementary will be getting the majority of those kids with about 80. Oaklawn Principal Jennifer Lingenfelter says the transition should be smooth.
"I think there is definitely an emotional tie to your elementary school. I think year when they come over it's going to be very important that they feel welcome. We can really form this relationship with the kids and their families as they come over so they do feel a part of our team," said Lingenfelter.
6 Woodlawn teachers will be following their students to Oaklawn.
